Tonight, I'm sitting back in my recliner after adding a few new buttons onto my website, working a bit on the Delta Worlds Library page, and starting work on a page about why I still like (and use) physical media over online-only options. Yesterday was extremely stressful, and today won't be much better once it's daytime, so I'm taking it slow while I'm able.

Things have been a roller coaster over the last couple weeks, but I'm holding on. We have to replace our water heater after it went out, and are currently looking at about $2500-$3000 with parts and labor. Calling around to get other estimates will happen later today, and probably into Friday as well, but it's gotta be done. It just going to take a massive chunk out of our reserves.

I also had to get a new cable modem, as I was tired of having virtually no bandwidth when my mate was using Discord (I blame Discord, not them). The ancient modem we have was getting us only about half the speed we've been paying for, and it was cheap. Along with it, I got a hard case for my MacBook Pro to hopefully help protect it, as well as a used Bluetooth mouse for said MacBook to keep as a spare. Upkeep of equipment is important if I wanna keep working on things.

Thing is, I ending up buying a TOSLink-to-miniTOSLink cable, an RCA-to-3.5mm cable, and a remote as well. For what? A BOSE Media Center 1-2-3 Series III sound system. It belonged to my late grandfather, which we extracted from the mess that is the living room. I set it up on my desk, to use with my MacBook Pro for music and movies. It also has a built-in CD/DVD player, but I don't have it connected to a tuner card or TV, so it's not getting used all that much. The MacBook Pro I use has TOSLink digital audio built into the 3.5mm port, so I've got a nice fiber optic connection for that. The RCA-to-3.5mm cable is in case I wanna use it with my phone, since the box doesn't have Bluetooth built into it.

During all of this, I've been going through my books as well, and I'm deciding what tech books I plan on keeping. A majority of them will be donated once I have the chance, because I just don't want them, and I'd rather they go to someone who does. I'm not doing or trying much in the way of dev work anymore, and while I'm keeping the historic books I enjoy having, I'd rather make room for other things in my life. Likewise with donating a large portion of my uncle's DVD collection, though we kept titles that we plan on watching again.

Things are moving fast, yet also so slowly that it's frustrating. All of the drama going on here has slowed down work on the house, yet things keep happing so quickly that it's difficult to keep up. All we can do is keep moving along.
